How can we help?
Short answers to the questions we hear most. If you don’t see what you need, write to support@ghostwhirl.com — we read every message.
Getting started
- Download GhostWhirl — installers for macOS and Windows.
- Grant microphone (and optionally system audio / screen) permissions on first launch.
- Use the tray or menu-bar icon to open settings or sign in.
Frequently asked questions
Is GhostWhirl really invisible to screen sharing?
Yes. The overlay uses OS-level window properties that exclude it from capture streams in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Loom and every other screen-recording tool we have tested. You see the window; nothing else in the call does.
Which operating systems are supported?
macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later on Apple Silicon and Intel. Windows 11 on x64, arm64 and 32-bit (ia32). A Linux build is not currently shipping.
How do I install GhostWhirl?
Download the installer from the Download page. On macOS, open the DMG and drag GhostWhirl into Applications. On Windows, run the Setup .exe — GhostWhirl will launch automatically when the installer finishes.
Does GhostWhirl start automatically when I turn my computer on?
Yes, after the first launch. On macOS we register GhostWhirl as a login item and open it hidden in the menu bar. On Windows we do the same via the system tray. You can toggle this from the tray menu under “Launch at login”.
How does auto-update work?
GhostWhirl checks for updates 8 seconds after launch and every 2 hours. New versions download in the background. If your machine has been idle for 5 minutes we install the update silently and relaunch; otherwise it installs next time you quit the app. You can also trigger “Restart & Update” from the tray menu.
What permissions does GhostWhirl need?
Microphone access for meeting transcription and “what should I say” answers; optional system audio capture for transcribing the other side of the call; optional screen capture for screen-context answers. You grant these the first time they are used and can revoke them in your OS settings at any time.
Is my meeting audio sent to the cloud?
By default, audio is transcribed in short windows and only the transcript text is sent to the LLM provider that answers your question. Raw audio is not stored on our servers and not reused for model training. You can enable end-to-end local mode on supported hardware.
Can my employer or interviewer detect GhostWhirl?
The overlay itself does not appear in screen shares or recordings. GhostWhirl does not inject itself into other processes and does not interact with the meeting software, which is why detection tools built around process enumeration do not flag it. Use the product responsibly and in line with your jurisdiction.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Open Settings inside the app or visit your dashboard at ghostwhirl.com/dashboard and choose Billing. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel in one click — no email exchange required.
I found a bug. What do I do?
Email support@ghostwhirl.com with your OS, app version (shown in the tray menu), and a description of what happened. If it is a security issue please see our Bug Bounty policy instead.
